GOOGLE ADS FOR LONG ISLAND BUSINESSES

Is your business ready for Google Ads?

By Jillian Hendler · October 7, 2026 · 2-minute read

You don’t need a huge website to start. You do need a clear service, an easy way to inquire and a plan for deciding whether the ads are working.

Choose the work you actually want

Start with one service and the towns you can realistically cover. A flooring business might want more hardwood refinishing projects rather than every kind of flooring inquiry. That choice shapes the searches, ad copy and page visitors see.

Check whether people search for that service in your area. Google’s Keyword Planner can help estimate demand and costs. Its figures are planning estimates, not promised customers.

Give visitors a clear next step

The page should explain what you do, where you work and how to request an estimate or ask a question. Use your own photos and useful details about the service. Someone arriving from a refinishing ad shouldn’t have to hunt through unrelated services.

Open the page on your phone and submit the form yourself. Make sure the message arrives and that you know who will respond. A working form is only useful if inquiries get a timely reply.

Decide what you’ll measure

Before launching, set up tracking for the actions that matter, such as a completed inquiry. Keep a record of genuine inquiries and which become paid jobs. A click on a contact button doesn’t tell you whether someone actually got in touch.

If you already run ads and the numbers don’t match your inbox, start with these checks for clicks without inquiries.

Set a test you can afford

Choose a spending limit and a review point before you start. Think about what a completed job contributes after your costs and how many inquiries typically become customers. That helps you judge what an inquiry is worth to your business.

A small test can still be inconclusive. The goal is to learn whether the searches, page and inquiry quality justify continuing—not to assume a fixed number of customers will arrive.
